The exhibition “Whose objects?” forms part of a larger exhibition, which discusses the origin of the museum’s collections. Explorers, scientists, missionaries and private travellers contributed over several centuries to
the ethnographic collections now housed in the Museum of Ethnography. The collection of court art from Benin, in today’s Nigeria, is largely the result of private donations during the early 20th Century. A few acquisitions of contemporary pieces were made for this exhibition.
